Is waking up at the crack of dawn and getting your family photo-ready for a sunrise session worth it? Why, yes. Yes it is. Especially when that family photo session is happening around Beaufort, South Carolina. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a disappointing sunrise in this state. These four wanted golden light and a morning sky and I was happy to oblige.
We photographed at The Sands Beach in Port Royal. If you’ve been there, you know that it’s a beautiful stretch of sand frequented by the locals that you can drive your car (or golf cart!) right onto. It’s a neighborhood treasure, hot spot for hunting sharks teeth in the sand, and perfect place to watch the sun greet a new day. I had a blast with this family! Heather herself is a talented wedding photographer in Beaufort and it was an honor to meet and work with her family.
If you’re a local, you know that The Sands in Port Royal is a hot spot for finding shark’s teeth. The local kids (and grown-ups, too) take delight in scanning through the sand and shells in search of these little treasures. It only seemed fitting to incorporate this shark hat into a few shots when Aiden joyfully pulled it out of the car. From the look on his sweet face in the next photo, I’d say it was worth it.
And don’t worry, Aiden got a turn, too - just keep scrolling!
