Last month I had the opportunity to photograph my sweet friend, Katie, thanks to her awesome husband who secretly reached out to me to plan this session as a surprise for her. I’ve always been inspired by Katie as a mother, but getting to witness her and her children from behind my lens for the first time was just so special. I’m honestly in awe of her selfless and empathic approach to parenting, she radiates love and kindness, something that is so clearly reflected in the personalities of her children within these photos. Motherhood sessions have been always been one of my favorite types of sessions to photograph, and I think it’s pretty clear here why that is.
And a special thanks to South Carolina for always having the best October weather for these Hunting Island Beach sessions.

“Living itself is an art. Difficult. Messy. Uncertain. Chaotic. Undeniably unchained and beautiful. We may not always understand the inner workings of it all, but what we can do is throw ourselves fully into what arrives by bending into lessons, love, brokenness, and fear as they’ll show us even more color, words, vibrance, and inspired meaning to rediscover or find. Everything we do and experience is art.”
