I met up with Charly and JD at one of my all-time favorite session locations, Hunting Island Beach, South Carolina. You all know I’m a big fan of all places where land meets sea, but this spot is just sentimental to me (plus, it’s been home to quite a few badass sessions for my couples and families).
These two beautiful humans (and parents) decided to take this evening to celebrate their love and document who they were in this chapter of their lives as a couple. Honestly, photographing married people like this is hands down, one of my FAVORITE kinds of sessions. No big occasion, no milestone date, just two people fiercely in love, putting immense value in investing in their legacy and taking the time to slow down and just pour into each other. Don’t get me wrong, anniversary sessions, vacation sessions, family sessions, I adore them all, but there’s just something so special about photographing two lovers “just because.”
From the minute we arrived on the beach that evening we knew rain was inevitable, we just weren’t sure when and how much we’d be hit with. Surprisingly, the skies held out and it wasn’t until we were getting ready to leave that we got a small shower. These two were awesome about it! Playing and dancing around in the rain and snuggling close together to stay dry made some of the last frames of their session the most fun.
Speaking of rain - curious about what happens if it rains on your session day?
To begin, on the days leading up to your session I’m monitoring the weather (and as many texts from clients tell me, I bet so are you). If miserable weather seems like a sure thing, we’ll chat about rescheduling or moving our outdoor session to a secondary, indoor location. Which route we take depends on your preferences and your goal for your images. If it is going to rain, but it isn’t freezing and you’re an adventurous pair, we can opt to stay on schedule and have fun with whatever mother nature gives us. Whether that be a dry session with a stunning and dynamic stormy sky as a backdrop, a soaking wet session channeling all of those Noah and Allie vibes, or a drizzly and gray session with snuggles under big umbrellas, if you’re up to the challenge, so am I, and we’ll certainly create something unique. Scroll down to see how Charly and JD handled the rain shower at their session!
