If you’ve spent a Spring season in Texas, you’ve probably dealt with some crazy rain and flooding, especially here in Grapevine and Flower Mound around the lake. Yana and I made a last-minute location change on the evening of our session to work around the high water levels at our scheduled location, and boy am I glad we did. This location turned out to be the perfect backdrop for some of my favorite motherhood images to date.
I’m not a “look here and smile” photographer. I follow emotions and interactions and let the children lead much of the session. I love how allowing the kids to take the lead and be themselves allows for images that truly capture their spirit. Like the two shots above where Leah catches airplanes in her hand.
Blurred lines and intentionally unexpected focus are some of my favorite ways to bring mood into a moment, and I love how that worked in the image below. What do you think about blur? Love it? Not a fan? I’d love to hear your thoughts about this or anything else related to this session down in the comments!
